At PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, the Department of Social Work  was established in 2023 to provide professional practice exposure in the discipline of Social Work. The Department offers a regular two-year full-time postgraduate programme in Social Work, titled Master of Social Work (MSW). The Department of Social Work is actively involved in offering evidence-based, quality-oriented social work education through the most sophisticated and emerging domains of practise, research, and field interventions. The graduates from this program would be competent to work in development sector, hospitals and psychiatric settings, human resource departments in corporates, learning and development, organizational development, corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship programs, research institutions and various settings at local, national and global levels.

To empower young women with up- to- date Social Work professional practice knowledge and skills inculcating professional human service, field-based research, skills and trainings for the students to be the responsible and model citizens.

The MSW program prepares the students with rigorous intellectual base, opportunities for skill development to provide professional social work services for specialized, evidence and rights-based practice among the vulnerable and general populations.
