Established in the year 1963, the Department of English, is one of the founding departments of the College, striving for excellence in Teaching and Research in the field of English Literary Studies. It offers programmes from UG (BA English Literature) to PhD (English), and constantly updates its curriculum to meet the latest requirements of the modern world.

Research is an integral part of the department and the faculty constantly encourage students to present & publish Research papers and also crack competitive exams. The scholars of the department receive scholarship based on their research proposal and plan. The Department offers Add-on courses like German and Cambridge Certificate Courses equipping students to compete internationally.

The Internship, Group project, and Individual PG project give students hands on experience of concepts and theories learnt. The Department library houses a total number of 4876 books apart from 10863 English Literature books, and 5 Journals in the General Library. Language learning is enhanced with regular Language Lab classes.
