Department of Costume and Apparel Design
Introduced in 2014, the Department of Costume and Apparel Design offers a range of programs aimed at preparing graduates for careers in the garment industry. These programs include B.Voc Garment Designing, Community college Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Garment Designing, B.Sc Costume Design and Fashion, and M.Sc Fashion and Apparel Design.
The department's curriculum is designed to meet the dynamic needs of the garment industry by incorporating innovative and flexible approaches. It integrates the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Outcome Based Education (OBE) model, emphasizing hands-on training, skill development, industrial exposure, and experiential learning. The primary aim is to enhance the employability of graduates and meet the evolving requirements of the garment industry.
Recognizing the importance of industry certifications, the department offers National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) certification in NSQF levels, including roles such as Assistant Fashion Designer, Fashion Designer, Boutique Manager, Export Manager, Sourcing Manager, and Online Sample Designer.
Equipped with advanced machinery, technologies, and infrastructure, the department ensures a conducive learning environment for students. Additionally, it boasts a Centre of Excellence for Apparel, Made-ups & Home Furnishing, established in collaboration with the Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishings Skill Sector Council (AMHSSC), Delhi.
