Syllabus
Established in 1967, the department began with the introduction of its undergraduate (UG) program. Over time, it evolved into a center for postgraduate education (MSc) and emerged as a Research Center for MPhil and PhD studies in Botany. Currently, the department comprises 11 faculty members, all holding PhD qualifications. Recognized as a DST-FIST (Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure in Higher Educational Institutions) sponsored department in 2009, it has been supported by the Star College Scheme/Status of DBT since 2012.
Vision
To promote excellence in dissemination and creation of knowledge in Botany, to enable lifelong learning through modern technology with a focus on developing intellectual human resources in Botany, to establish partnership with institutions both public and private which will enable the students and faculty to cross institutional boundaries for scholarly and creative activity with a linkage to community services.
Mission
Encourage the students for higher learning, inculcate research culture in Botany, train both the faculty and students for using sophisticated instruments and motivate to obtain funding projects and to publish papers in journals with high impact factor, strengthen the institute – industry partnership to promote internship and placement in core companies, transfer technology to the society and uplift the population of entrepreneurs.
